StarterMotor welcomes over 1,500 local school children and charities to celebratory Flywheel event

Bicester Heritage’s charity partner, StarterMotor, has given away over 1,500 complimentary tickets to local Bicester schools and Oxfordshire charities for the site’s ten-year anniversary event: Flywheel, on the 17th and 18th of June, reaching capacity on the number of complimentary passes allocated.

StarterMotor places its focus on putting young people in old cars, inspiring children to get involved with makes and models of cars from all ages. This inclusive approach has seen the charity welcome 1,400 local school children to Bicester Heritage for a series of careers mornings during 2022, with more activity and engagement planned for 2023.

Based at Bicester Heritage, StarterMotor aims to put the next generation in the driving seat, and is a firm favourite at Bicester Heritage’s events, offering attendees the opportunity to meet with StarterMotor’s 35 Ambassadors. Flywheel will be no exception, with celebratory parade laps planned in one of the charity’s fleet of cars during the weekend.

Flywheel is a celebration of wings, wheels and motion for the whole family to enjoy, with over 100 cars expected to take to the track for celebratory laps over the course of the weekend.

Liz Pilling, Associate Director, Events, comments: “Our events are organised so that the entire family can relax and enjoy a great day out. Being able to welcome along those who dedicate their time to helping the local community chimes with our ethos and aim to invite all ages to join us for Flywheel. We are delighted that all of our complimentary passes have now been given away.”

Dave Withers, CEO, StarterMotor adds: “For StarterMotor our focus and drive remains getting people in old cars. it is really rewarding when we see a family encountering one our fleet for the first time. Our grand plans for 2023 and beyond remain to welcome more local schools to come and explore our Bicester Heritage home.”
